TARZANA, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An investigation is underway after a woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Tarzana.
The incident occurred around 10:40 p.m. Tuesday night on Reseda Boulevard near the Braemar Country Club, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Police said they're investigating if the victim - who was identified by the coroner's office as 45-year-old Rosa Zareaseisan of Tarzana - was jogging at the time of the crash.
Aidin Yousefi told Eyewitness News he and his girlfriend were driving in the area minutes before the crash.
When they were coming back down the hill, they saw the woman's body lying on the street.
"I was trying to get close to the body, I was like, 'Maybe there's a chance it's alive,' but I was like ... 'impossible,'" he said.
He and a couple of other drivers pulled over to see if they could help and called 911.
"We were trying to get close to the body. Honestly, it was really scary. That was my very first time seeing a dead body," said Yousefi.
That particular stretch of Reseda Boulevard is typically with not only walkers and joggers, but also traffic.
Residents in the area told ABC7 they worry about their own safety.
"I'm livid because I've been living here since 1995 and it's gotten worse and worse and worse," said Grace Micnick. "A stop sign is just like a red light and they don't care and they're just flying through here."
Meanwhile, police are searching for the driver of what they described as a dark colored SUV, possibly a Range Rover.
